REFLECTION

When I had first began this project I had already developed some leadership skills from other leadership roles I had held in other organizations along with the positions that I have held in Sigma Chi already. When I initially took this position I knew that I would be able build on those leadership skills I had already started to develop. Some of the skills that I believe that I was able to develop while undertaking this project are, communication, responsibility, delegation, and flexibility. After attending Balfour Leadership Training Workshop BLTW, I feel that I was able use the resources that this chapter has given me to better execute my position by delegating more. This is something that I haven’t been able to do well in the past because I always felt that I could handle everything on my own, but something I learned very quickly was, that was not going to work out very well considering being Pro Consul meant having a lot to manage and it would be in my best interest to delegate some of my responsibilities to alleviate some of the tasks that I normally would have done on my own and also keeping an eye on everything to make sure that everything was still running correctly. Some other insights that was able to gain from this experience is how big being committed and being motivated while being a leader has an impact on the people that you are leading. Being committed and motived ensures the people that you are leading that you are invested into the goal or the outcome; motivation is key though, if you can motivate your group or fraternity or whatever it may be you will have a better out come.
